MESSAGE FROM BROOMPOWER 6th October 2017
FLO HAS ARRIVED
Flo is the inspired name of the turbine that will soon be generating electricity for BroomPower. You will have noticed that work on and around the turbine house has finished, as is the intake area and the pipeline taking power to the turbine. Construction is complete.
I can report that the turbine is a beautiful blue colour. She may be square and unremarkable in appearance , only it is the inner beauty that counts, for that is complex and powerful, with the capacity to move us all.
It is planned that Flo should be generating by the beginning of November and earning revenue in time for our AGM. This is a moment of deep satisfaction for those of us directly involved in delivering this project. It is also an occasion for all the community to celebrate. Just remember the cloud in every silver-lining, the more rain, the more power! So let the rains fall.
You want to know more? You are a share holder? Attend the ‘Switch-On’ and BroomPower (LCR Ltd) AGM, Saturday, 18th November at Braemore Hall.
Even if you are not a share holder, but curious to see and hear what has been achieved, this event is open to all.
1.15 – 2.15 Tours to turbine house
2.30 – 3.30 AGA and Q&A Session followed by drinks and light refreshments.

MESSAGE FROM BROOMPOWER 26th April 2017
After many months of hard and often difficult negotiations, BroomPower is this week, beginning construction of the community hydro scheme. Apart from the dedicated work of our volunteer group, the professions involved have been Locogen, acting as project managers, Campbell of Duone, providing the design, and now Bobby Ross Ltd, working as the construction contractors. Everyone has shown immense skill, energy and professionalism to ensure all correct construction procedures will be followed, with a focus upon safety for constructor employees and the public alike.
Now we are ready to go and this is a genuine moment of celebration for all interested in this community scheme.
The site is just beyond Braemore Hall, going South on the A835 travelling towards Inverness. Over the next few months you may experience some delay from traffic control for which we apologies in advance. Just remember this is all community inspired and financed!
BroomPower is planning an official ‘Cutting the Turf’ ceremony for Saturday, 13th May. This will take place at Braemore Hall at 11.00am and include the announcement of the name of the BroomPower Turbine, which has been the subject of a competition amoungst children at Ullapool Primary school.
More details are to follow about this event, and there will be regular updates on construction through the Ullapool News and social media.
Tim Gauntlett, on behalf of BroomPower.
